03/12/2012 - Run to the Sun XXIV
There is always something going on in Myrtle Beach. Always. This week (March 15-17), Myrtle Beach is hosting the 23rd Annual Run to the Sun, South Carolina's biggest auto event show. If you're craving the auto experience of a lifetime, this three-day event is the place to be.
What is Run to the Sun XXIV?
If "Run to the Sun" sounds like an exhausting exercise routine to you, don't worry. Run to the Sun isn't exactly about running. It's about driving. To be more specific, it's about some of the most insanely awesome cars and trucks ever to roll on wheels. Run to the Sun XXIV, organized by Pee Dee Street is the biggest car and truck show on the East Coast. Over 2,500 custom creations come together for a dazzling display of chrome, and a thunderous cacophony of engines. Some people call it the "Greatest car place in the world."
Schedule for Run to the Sun XXIV
Engines start bright and early on Thursday morning for the opening of showtime (8a-5p). Be sure to register at the Clarion Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn) on Fantasy Harbor Blvd. Events continue all the way through to Saturday. Thursday night, March 15 is the Cruise down Ocean Boulevard. You'll want to grab a front row spot. Friday night's events include a massive kickoff party, right in Celebrity Square. If you love cars and music and dancing, this is the place to be on Friday night. Saturday is the biggest day of Run to the Sun with the most gawkers. The day is nonstop action beginning at 8am, continuing to the prize giveaway session. Last year, the Grand Prize winners won over $12,500, and there are tons of smaller door prizes and cash prizes. This year, someone's gonna win, too.
